The Power of Continued Education in Dance Leadership
Great leaders never stop learning. In the ever-evolving world of dance, staying at the forefront of technique, education, and business practices is essential. That’s why our leadership team—Ms. Meghan and Ms. Courtney—are always seeking ways to improve, expand their knowledge, and bring the very best to our VDC dancers.
The end of January, they attended Studio Owner University, along with Ms. Camryn who recently graduated from Oklahoma City University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dance Management. SOU is an intensive program designed to equip studio leaders with innovative strategies to enhance their programs, cultivate strong communities, and elevate their teaching methods. By continuing their education, they ensure that Velocity remains a thriving and welcoming dance studio for every dancer who walks through our doors.
Nurturing the Next Generation of Dance Leaders
Dance studios don’t just build dancers—they build leaders. Many of today’s studio owners, educators, and choreographers started as young dancers, learning valuable lessons in discipline, teamwork, and resilience. At Velocity, we encourage our students to do the right thing and step up, whether that means setting an example in class, assisting younger dancers, or after high school possibly pursuing a deeper education in dance and studio management.
By investing in young leaders like Ms. Camryn (and all our amazing teachers and staff) by providing mentorship opportunities for students who aspire to teach, we create a strong, sustainable future for the dance industry in Oklahoma City. Leadership starts in the studio, and every dancer has the potential to inspire and guide those who follow in their footsteps.
