October is here, and with it comes an opportunity to shine a light on something very close to our hearts, “National Women’s Small Business Month.” As a woman-owned business, Velocity Dance Center is proud to not only support the arts but also be part of a thriving community of small businesses that play a vital role in enriching our neighborhoods and investing in the next generation.
Supporting Ms. Meghan and Her Dream
Velocity Dance Center was founded by Ms. Meghan, our passionate and dedicated CEO and instructor. As a long-time dance educator and mentor to countless students, she pours her heart into this studio every single day. From teaching Jazz to leading our Company dancers, her dedication to both the art of dance and her students is unmatched. When you support Velocity, you’re not just supporting a business—you’re supporting Ms. Meghan’s dream.
Running a small business like Velocity also means providing for her family. Ms. Meghan, along with her husband, are proud parents to Hudson, her son, who is growing up alongside this dance family. Each class you sign up for, every positive review, and every word-of-mouth recommendation you share helps ensure that Ms. Meghan can continue to offer top-notch dance education while supporting her own family.
Meaningful Employment in the Arts
At Velocity Dance Center, being a small business allows us to provide meaningful employment in the arts. For our full-time employees, we are able to offer health insurance. Additional benefits that both our full and part-time employees are offered include: retirement accounts (optional), paid time off, and continuing education and training.
For our Junior employees, who are students gaining work experience, we offer: mentoring, paid time off, and life skills training.
Through Nectar HR, we recognize team achievements, allowing peers and leadership to award points for outstanding work, which can be redeemed for prizes. At Velocity, we strive to provide a positive, rewarding and encouraging work environment for the instructors and staff, alike.
Why Supporting Local Matters
Local businesses like Velocity Dance Center play a crucial role in making communities stronger and more vibrant. When you choose to support a small, locally-owned business, you’re helping that business owner make a direct impact on the community—whether that’s by creating local jobs, sponsoring local events, or providing unmatched dance training.
For Velocity, it means keeping the arts alive in our town and fostering an environment where students feel encouraged and supported in their love for dance. It also means offering classes with heart—focused not just on technique, but on building confidence, character, and friendships.
How You Can Continue to Support Velocity Dance Center
Supporting Velocity is about more than just signing up for a class. There are so many ways you can continue to support and lift up VDC!
- Shop Locally: We know you have a choice when it comes to where your child can dance. Every registration, attendance of camps, or recital ticket helps keep the studio running. Thank you for investing in your child, and us.
- Spread the Word: Tell your friends and family about Velocity Dance Center. Referrals mean the world to a small business like ours, and they help us grow our dance family.
- Engage on Social Media: Follow us on social media, and be sure to like, share, and comment on our posts. Every little bit of engagement helps expand our reach.
- Attend and Invite Others to Events: Whether it’s a recital, dance camp, or open house, your attendance and support make a huge difference. Bringing a friend or sharing event details with others helps us welcome new faces to our community.
